All the books I have used and recommend can be easily browsed and purchased via my bookstore on Amazon.com.

Web Site Hosting
Since 2000 I have had all my web sites and mailing lists hosted (and domains registered) with Dreamhost. I've never had any problems and because of that, I still adore them and completely, wholeheartedly recommend them!

A timeline of sorts

20 years ago, I failed art. Twice. Now my work hangs in galleries, sells as prints, graces book covers and has won design awards.

15 years ago I cleaned toilets in an historic, fancy hotel. Now I write about such hotels and get paid for it. I even was sent on assignment to write about the one I once cleaned.

8 years ago I moved to America. I made $7,000.00 that year and had to weigh apples to make sure I could afford them. Now, eat 3 apples each day. Sometimes 4.

5 years ago I was in a job I hated and wanted something else. Now, I choose happiness and everything else.

Today, I'm incredibly happy.

Site Renovation

The past few days have been spent updating Girl at Play. There's a new site redesign, an elimination of so many old pages that just weren't reflecting the current direction and a simplification of everything. Felt. So. Good.

One of my favourite additions is on the main page. A charming little flash animation is now there based on a book my best-friend made for me back in 2001. A huge thanks to my very talented friend, Lorissa who put it all together in Flash.

This blog is also going through changes both in appearance and context. Look for improvements over the week. I'm off on a travel assignment in a few days so we'll see how it fits in. Thank god for laptops and portable tea makers!

Hygge House

Coming Summer 2006, Hygge House will focus on how to live well; giving ideas for home, travel and personal time. No Martha, no complicated expensive ideas or things that take weeks to plan. Part story-telling blog, part magazine, part links to places, Hygge House won't be just another web site; it'll have a soul that'll help you find the special in the every day and in you.
