I heard this quote the other day and it’s been stuck in my mind for the mere fact it’s so very, very true:
A little tootin’ of the horn here, but today it was announced that the site I created, Girls Guide to City Life is a finalist in the “blog” category for the 9th Annual SXSW Interactive Web Awards!
This is my second nomination (the last one was in 2003) and I’m so thrilled and excited.
In 2001 Girl at Play began as a way for Alex Beauchamp to chronicle her adventures from leaving her successful corporate position to being creatively self-employed. For the first three years the blog focused on creativity, new media and being an entrepreneur.
However as her experience and network grew and her interests developed, Alex realized she really loved working more with people and companies than on her own. She had created a huge network of interesting people and a loyal community that she wanted to work and create success with. So now she works with amazing people and the best companies around the world on helping them with branding, new media exposure, community development and incorporating creativity.
She's always been passionate and committed to helping people achieve both personal and professional success, which is why she continues to share what she learns on GirlatPlay.com. She believes that everyone can find and have a job they love - whether it's on their own or for someone else.
Alex is currently based in Santa Monica, California where she still writes, does photography and reads far too many books.
